Dr Slobodan P. Simonovic is one of the world’s leading authorities on application of Systems Analysis to water and environmental management.
A prolific writer and a public and a media speaker, Dr Simonovic, a Western Professor Emeritus and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, received numerous honors and most recently in 2022, he was featured in the Stanford list of World's top 2% Scientists.
He advanced the understanding of water and environmental systems by providing decision-makers with tools to support their sustainable management. He made unparalleled contributions to global and local management of water that have improved the lives and livelihoods of millions of people worldwide. His work has a significant impact on our understanding of system linkages between humans and build and natural environments that lead to sustainable water resources management and resilience as a new development paradigm.

Let’s drink in the WeCLISH Climate Café’s Zoom room and connect over an insightful conversation with this month’s Café Guest: Dr Slobodan P. Simonovic.
He will share Milutin Milanković's theory of climate change and its implications over hundred years for us today. Milanković posited that variations in Earth's climate are primarily driven by changes in its orbital characteristics, including eccentricity, axial tilt, and precession. These variations alter the distribution and intensity of solar radiation received by Earth, leading to long-term climate cycles such as ice ages. Although widely applied in climate science till this day, we know little about its development during the tumultuous time of the early 20th century. So, let’s take a journey of knowing with a world-renowned scientist – Dr Simonovic.
