Heather HydeHeather Hyde, Director, Sustainability at Western University, brings over 25 years of diverse experience in engineering and sustainability across private and public sectors, including manufacturing and higher education.

Heather received her MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer.

Heather's work focuses on advancing sustainability practices across all facets of the university. Her commitment to this work is driven by a deep-seated passion for environmental stewardship and a genuine desire to contribute positively towards a sustainable future.

Jessica CordesJessica Cordes, Engagement Coordinator (Sustainability) at Western University, holds a Bachelor of Arts with an honours specialization in sociology and a Masters of Environment and Sustainability.

Jessica has been in her current role at Western since 2020 and is dedicated to building a culture of sustainability for all through engaging programming centred around relationships, networks, and collaboration.

In the community, Jessica volunteers with the Middlesex London Food Policy Council. Her early career was focused on global development through social justice and conservation programs based in South and  East Africa and Southeast Asia.

Let’s drink in the WeCLISH Climate Café’s Zoom room and connect over an inspiring conversation with this month’s Café Guests, Heather Hyde and Jessica Cordes.

They will discuss how Western Sustainability’s nearly 20 unique projects across the university transformed the campus as a living lab. Engaging with them, the Western community finds exciting and impactful ways to utilize our built and natural environment for teaching, research, and learning.

You’ll also learn about Heather’s and Jessica’s journeys, inside stories, rewards and challenges.
